Why Texas ?

If you think that sitting for GMAT is the most  difficult part to fulfill dreams of your MBA then you are wrong. It is the application process that follows the GMAT exam is the real hurdle. A deep level of introspection and understanding of your desires and goals is needed to decide on the right country/school. An even deeper level of understanding is needed when you start writing essays as google wont help. It is you and your aspirations alone that will result in meaningful worded essays.

More than impressing admission committee the essays help you realize if the dream you are chasing is really the one you should b chasing. Not everyone is fit for field of business/ management, some people are so technology inclined that they should stick to their strengths than chase a herd of sheep.

For me , MBA is a necessity to present my full potential to the world. More than academics, MBA for me is about experience of lifetime that will help me meet new people, explore new horizons and understand business from new perspectives.  America is the right choice of country as its exceptional educational experience attracts students from all the parts of the world. In India, Only numbers are given focus due to which the personality traits important for success in long-run remains unexplored.

My colleague was asking if he should try for education in Europe and I think that only knowing an European language is not a real benefit if you are not fluent in it because it will really impact your professional growth which relies heavily on coordination with team.So Europe is a no-no.

Belonging to a tropical country like India , I don't think I would like the cold regions of America.
But there are some regions like Texas which have temperatures similar to those in Delhi. Also, my friends are in Texas so starting a new life in that part of the world would be easier as compared to others.  What I have heard about Texas is mostly positive in teams of safety, weather, culture, diversity and cost of living. Given this I would really try for Texas and will hope that may luck be in my favor to help me achieve my goals.

GMAT - TEST YOU APPTITUDE OR MENTAL STRENGTH ?

I sat for GMAT. For all those, who are not aware of what GMAT examination is , just Google it.  But to brief you out ,it is a computer adaptive test (CAT) intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.

I was preparing it on my own without external coaching for a few weeks. Yes, some people like me do trust themselves, even in this competitive era , and prepare for elite examinations without external examinations.

I sat for multiple practice tests before actually gathering strength to sit for examination with confidence. During a time when you have pressures at work to fulfill targets , Setting a time of 3 hours to practice can be tough but it is all worth it. Practice more and more but with timer. Questions are not scary but completing questions within the time assigned is. I mostly had troubles with Verbal part though I enjoyed Quantitative.

All those sleepless nights spent studying led me to the test day. By the way, in most of practice tests I was scoring somewhere between 620-660.   I woke up with worries on my test day ( Uncontrollable anxiety ).

But, I just meditated for a few minutes and comforted myself that 'Everything is gonna go well'. I left for test center feeling more relaxed and there I played my music ,EDM. Grooving to the music while driving through those jammed roads , I further got rid of all that pre-exam anxiety.

Finally, on reaching my destination I gave my examination with confidence. Trust me , no matter how much you practice ,unless you get hold of those nerves during examination you are not gonna perform your best.  I utilized the break to the full by freshening up and keeping mind away from worries of whatever happened in quant section. During Verbal , I followed strategy to note ABCD on every sheet of paper that really helps in questions cz sometimes you just dont look for right answers but eliminate the wrong ones too.

By the way, I ended up finishing my quant section half an hour before the scheduled time and verbal on-time. AWA and IR section was okaish. But best part, I scored 700 with 50 in quant.

So my tip :
DONT WORRY! EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE FINE! best of luck
